TRAINING FROM OTHER FACILITIES ACCEPTABLE

To reduce the time needed to meet radiation safety training requirements, NIST now accepts basic radiation safety training from other U.S. neutron facilities in place of the NIST offered on-line training. Note that on-site radiation safety training, including a tour of the safety systems at NIST, is still required. To take advantage of this program, you must provide a letter signed by your radiation safety office certifying that the training meets NRC requirements Sample Letter. A DOE radiation safety qualifications card (Qual card) is also accepted. To qualify, your institution must have an agreement with NIST to accept this training. The institutions listed below currently have agreements in place.

• Oak Ridge National Lab (ORNL, HFIR and SNS)
• Los Alamos National Lab (LANL), Lujan Center
• Advanced Test Reactor (ATR), NSUF
• MIT Research Reactor Facility (MITR)
• Missouri University Research Reactor Facility, (MURR)
• University of Tennessee
